The Magical World of Mary Poppins

In this fairytale world of London, chimney sweeps dance on the rooftops and Mary Poppins flies through the air with her umbrella. Uncle Albert floats in his house as he giggles with glee. Fantasy creates joy in our hearts.

Romance, what is thee? Romance is a fantasy world filled with birds chirping and humans laughing. Mary Poppins is a romantic movie because if you look at the key points of romance, it follows them perfectly. In the beginning the original nanny quits to create a new beginning. In the movie some mild conflict occurs, for example Mrs Banks is too wrapped up with politics to spend time with the kids. In the end Mr and Mrs Banks realize that family is irreplaceable and more important then the bank or the right to vote for women. Because they realize this, the story concludes with a happy ending.

Happy endings conclude all romantic novels and movies but all stories need characters. a movie without characters wouldn't be a movie, it would just be scenes played out for the camera. Characters play important roles in movies and novels so you are going to find out some of the characters in Mary Poppins. The main characters are Micheal, Jane, and Mary Poppins herself. Mr. Banks is the father of Jane and Micheal. Mr Banks is the head of the Bank of London. Mrs banks is the wife to Mr Banks and Mrs Banks is trying to get women the right to vote and give them more power. Bert is the local multitasker, and seasoned when it comes to experiences with Mary Poppins.

While looking at the characters in Mary Poppins don't forget the many symbols scattered throughout the movie. There are symbols, such as Mary Poppins carpet bag which symbolizes the magic of Mary Poppins. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a word used a bit in this movie. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious symbolizes that if you don't know what to say if you say that you will feel better. Near the end when Mr. Banks get fired from the bank, the directors have one of themselves to take away the flower from Mr. Banks coat and punch a hole in his top hat. Those symbols symbolize wealth and power.

While wealth and power was thought to be important in those days the real important thing is family. Family supports you when you get bad luck and they aid you in your needs. The real beauty in Mary Poppins is love, of which is plenty, from the Banks family, to Bert and Mary. (Sigh), love is in the air.
