"The Circuit"

In "The Circuit" a small Mexican boy named Panchito struggles against the poverty of his family. As he slowly becomes older he has to work in the fields with his father and brother. When Panchito is 12 years old, his family moves once again and he starts working in a vineyard. his life was hard; he's earned some happiness.

Panchito's life has been all Hard work. To top it off he has to move from his home continuously. Moving to different places is hard on everyone, but imagine moving once or twice a year. Living in a different place every year can cause disappointment because you might feel like you just fit in but then you just have to move and fit in to a different place.

While moving around, there are some symbols in the story that tells about Panchito's life. A very familiar symbol are the boxes. Whenever his family is going to move they pack everything they own into boxes. While going to school, Panchito's lunch time is filled with learning English. Finally one day Panchito's teacher takes him down to the music room. The teacher asks him "Do you like music?" "Yes" Panchito replies "I like corridos" His teacher offers to teach Panchito how to play the trumpet. Panchito couldn't have been happier, and the trumpet symbolizes his new joy. As he disembarks the bus, his siblings excitedly scream and as he walks through the door he see everything they own pack in boxes.

Because of the moving Panchito's education has been spotty at best. He is feeling very guilty because he gets to go to school but his brother doesn't. The incident with the trumpet, explained in the last paragraph disappoints Panchito because he just became happy but then he had to move right away. learning english is hard and if you don't get it right then you can become depressed.

Between learning English at school and working in the fields at home Panchito's life has been very hard. This story appears to be written in the ironic mode because it teaches us that our lives are not so bad when we see Panchito's life is too much.

The Magical World of Mary Poppins

In this fairytale world of London, chimney sweeps dance on the rooftops and Mary Poppins flies through the air with her umbrella. Uncle Albert floats in his house as he giggles with glee. Fantasy creates joy in our hearts.

Romance, what is thee? Romance is a fantasy world filled with birds chirping and humans laughing. Mary Poppins is a romantic movie because if you look at the key points of romance, it follows them perfectly. In the beginning the original nanny quits to create a new beginning. In the movie some mild conflict occurs, for example Mrs Banks is too wrapped up with politics to spend time with the kids. In the end Mr and Mrs Banks realize that family is irreplaceable and more important then the bank or the right to vote for women. Because they realize this, the story concludes with a happy ending.

Happy endings conclude all romantic novels and movies but all stories need characters. a movie without characters wouldn't be a movie, it would just be scenes played out for the camera. Characters play important roles in movies and novels so you are going to find out some of the characters in Mary Poppins. The main characters are Micheal, Jane, and Mary Poppins herself. Mr. Banks is the father of Jane and Micheal. Mr Banks is the head of the Bank of London. Mrs banks is the wife to Mr Banks and Mrs Banks is trying to get women the right to vote and give them more power. Bert is the local multitasker, and seasoned when it comes to experiences with Mary Poppins.

While looking at the characters in Mary Poppins don't forget the many symbols scattered throughout the movie. There are symbols, such as Mary Poppins carpet bag which symbolizes the magic of Mary Poppins. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a word used a bit in this movie. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious symbolizes that if you don't know what to say if you say that you will feel better. Near the end when Mr. Banks get fired from the bank, the directors have one of themselves to take away the flower from Mr. Banks coat and punch a hole in his top hat. Those symbols symbolize wealth and power.

While wealth and power was thought to be important in those days the real important thing is family. Family supports you when you get bad luck and they aid you in your needs. The real beauty in Mary Poppins is love, of which is plenty, from the Banks family, to Bert and Mary. (Sigh), love is in the air.
